New drops on the lineup.

There’s something for everyone in our latest single origins rotation: warmth & soothing sweetness in the Guatemala Tinamit, balance and delicacy with the Ethiopia Mr Tadese Teko, a colourful fruit salad in the latest Black Diamond natural from Las Lajas, Costa Rica.

On espresso, we’re keeping it interesting with a washed Peru that was really hard to pin down through cupping. We landed on deep caramel and orange peel notes, with a kiwifruit brightness - but you’ll be the judge of it.

Try them by the cup in store, or get your hands on a bag online.

Meet our Mills Lane barista, Waiaria. She splits her time between the bar and her freelance design work.

Outside of Atomic, she’s working on projects centred around mātauranga Māori in conservation and wellbeing, along with illustration work and time on the water with her waka ama team. Not much sitting still unless she has to.

Back on shift, it’s usually a batch brew or a Brazil through Aeropress.

Its deeply funky aroma will make you think you've clocked this coffee before even tasting it - but be ready for a surprise. Wild berries take front seat, with a complex aftertaste like red wine grapes. Rock melon aroma follows through, creating a unique cup, rounded by bubble gum sweetness. Grab it at one of our venues or online.

10 days to Brewers Cup! A couple of weeks back, we held a mini competition among our team to find out who would be Atomic’s brewing champ on the national stage. Thanks to everyone who stepped up & gave it a go, and congrats to Keanan for taking the top spot!

What’s Brewers Cup? It’s a soft brewing competition where the country’s top brewers choose a coffee, create a recipe and present it on stage across a 10 minute routine. They get scored by a panel of judges on attributes like acidity, sweetness, aroma and aftertaste. And for those making it to the finals, there’ll be a ‘compulsory service’ round: same coffee, same grinder, same water and serving vessel.

The competition’s back in New Zealand for the first time in 20 years, and we’re the proud sponsors of the coffee used for the compulsory round. Come cheer on Keanan, learn some brewing tips & try competition level coffees Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd May at the Tuesday Club in the CBD. More info via

With Outliers, we hunt for coffees that break the mould. Like Rocket Flower - smells and tastes like you’re taking an evening stroll down the streets of Seville during orange blossom season. Unmistakable, intoxicating, and fully intentional. It’s the result of enzymatic processing, designed to highlight a clear floral profile. A true outlier.

Seasonal single origins are back, and this new lineup is sweeter than ever. You’ve got tropical, zesty, strawberry notes on espresso, toffee & blueberry from Ethiopia, and apple & vanilla in our washed Guatemala.

But our highlight this month is the naturally-processed Kenyan from Sasini Estates - a rare gem that turns the usual brightness and acidity of Kenyans into deep purple grape and blackberry flavours.

Give them a go in store or get yourself a bag online.
