Although the requirement to provide a negative pre-departure Covid test is being discontinued as from 21 June, there are still some entry requirements that will remain in place. Here's what you need to know to enter New Zealand.

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS
New Zealand citizens are allowed to enter the country regardless of vaccination status.

If you are not a New Zealand citizen, you’ll need proof of vaccination to enter the country.

However, this does not apply to children aged 16 years and under, and those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons (you’ll need evidence from a medical practitioner).

If you are travelling from a country with no vaccines, or limited access to Covid-19 vaccines, you may be eligible for an exemption.

TRAVELER DECLARATION
Most travellers will still need to complete the New Zealand Traveller Declaration. You can do this up to 28 days before you fly.

Those on flights departing after 11.59pm on June 20 will not need to upload a pre-departure test result – but everything else in the declaration will remain the same. This includes providing your passport details, proof of vaccination (if required), travel history for 14 days, flight details, and contact details.

Once you have completed the declaration, a QR code will be sent to you. You will need to present this when checking in to your flight.

From 11.59pm on June 20, those TRANSITING New Zealand will not need to complete the New Zealand Traveller Declaration.

ON-ARRIVAL TESTS
Travellers entering New Zealand will still be required to test for Covid-19 on arrival.

After going through Customs and Biosecurity, you’ll be given a free welcome pack containing three rapid antigen tests (RATs), and instructions on using them.

You will need to take the first RAT on day zero/one and the second on day five/six. The third is a back-up test.

You will receive a text message or email prompting you to report your results. If your test is positive, you will need to arrange to get a PCR test from a community testing station or doctor. Tell the health professional who does the test that you have arrived from overseas. You will then need to self-isolate for seven days.

Este é um caminho único e as aplicações estarão abertas a partir de 1º de dezembro deste ano para alguns candidatos, e a partir de 1º de março do próximo ano para os demais candidatos. Todas as aplicações nesta categoria devem ser enviadas até 31 de julho do próximo ano.

Em termos gerais, para ser beneficiado, você deveria estar com um visto de trabalho elegível no dia 29 de setembro de 2021.

Adicionalmente, precisa atender um dos seguintes requerimentos:

- Morar na Nova Zelândia há 3 anos ou mais
- Ganhar $27 por hora ou mais
- Seu trabalho tem que estar em uma das listas de escassez

Immigration New Zealand To submit an expression of interest, you will first need to create an account. Once you have done this, you can then log in and submit an EOI. You can also use your log in to check the status of your EOI.

You may already have seen that the government has announced this morning that they are to introduce a new category of residence visa. This is a one-off pathway and applications will be open from 1 December this year for some applicants, and from 1 March next year for the remaining applicants. All applications under this category must have been submitted by 31 July next year.

There are very few details regarding the application process itself and we are unable to give any advice about it until the government releases further details about the process - hopefully by the end of October.

Broadly speaking, in order to be eligible, you must:

Have been in NZ on 29 September 2021
AND ON THAT DATE
You have lived in NZ for 3 or more years
OR
You were earning $27 per hour or more
OR
Your job was listed on a shortage list

As NZ begins another period in level 4 lockdown, we just wanted to let you know that, so far as is safely possible, it's a case of "business as usual" here at Idvisor.

All of us here work from home the majority of the time, so we're more than geared up for lockdown life. The only changes there are likely to be to our services, so far as you the clients are concerned, is that Igor cannot meet you face-to-face until the alert level permits it again and application processing MAY slow down at INZ. There was very little time for INZ to make any arrangements to transfer to remote working, so there may delays in processing.

It's hard to go back into lockdown, but our team of 5 million once again has the opportunity to show the rest of the world how to handle a crisis, so kia kaha all of you and most of all, stay safe too.
