Removing a few trees today. We always aim to retain trees wherever possible, but unfortunately these had developed significant structural defects and were becoming a safety hazard.

Once the stumps have been ground out, we’ll be planting new trees to replace them and help ensure the area continues to thrive for years to come.

Old Goff | Tree of the Year 16/06/2026

🌳 Vote for Old Goff – NZ Tree of the Year 2026! 🌳

As arborists, we spend our days working around some incredible trees, but every now and then a tree comes along that truly stands apart.

Meet Old Goff, the magnificent Sydney Red Gum (Angophora costata) in Hobsonville, Auckland. Believed to be around 146 years old, Old Goff is recognised as the largest known specimen of its species anywhere in the world. Its huge spreading canopy, twisting limbs and stunning orange, pink and cream bark make it one of New Zealand's most remarkable trees.

More than just a tree, Old Goff is a living piece of Auckland's history, believed to have been planted during the era of Governor George Grey and standing proudly over Hobsonville for generations.

The NZ Tree of the Year competition celebrates the stories, heritage and connections that make individual trees special to our communities. Voting is open now and closes on 30 June.
