Bays Work In Progress

Another inspiring Matariki event took place yesterday in the Browns Bay Village Green with rangatahi from Long Bay College and tamariki from East Coast Bays Community Creche.

Our creche kaitiaki welcomed the Long Bay Year 10 Te Reo Māori class with pepeha and waiata, with a waiata response from the college students.

We worked with Harry from Barefooted NZ to activate the village green with the use of hupara, rakau-based (trees, sticks, vines) aroarotakaro (artefacts of play).

Our older students guided their younger cohorts in these games, with both groups of students showing manākitanga, care and patience.

The Browns Bay Village Green partners are looking to further activate the Browns Bay Village Green for young and old alike.
