Yesterday was a rainy Sunday here in my Hometown. Though Lockdown is lifted we are still preferring staying at home, still preferring home cooked food, including breads and pastas, still trying to grow our veggies at home and trying to limit contact with outside world as much as possible. So yesterday I decided to make Rakhis at home for the upcoming Rakshbandhan festival in August. My Mother decided to join me. My Mother, as she says, as a young girl loved to embroider so much so that she would often lost track to time. Quickly my mother pulled out her big box of threads and beads which she had collected and stored over time, i too got my humble collection and we started the trials. After a few trials and discussions over color combinations we came up with these subtle Rakhis, combining her skills and my aesthetics. We thoroughly enjoyed our time together and I am looking forward for many more such rendezvous with my Mother. We would be very happy making such Rakhis if anyone of you wishes so, on a yet another rainy afternoon 😊
