Along the way, you’ll visit places where the stories actually unfolded, including Meretoto/Ship Cove, Wairau Boulder Bank, the Edwin Fox in Picton, Port Underwood and Akaroa.

You’ll hear stories of early Māori settlement, Polynesian and European navigators, whaling stations, missionaries, French colonists and Captain Cook’s visits to these shores - brought to life by local historians, guides, museum hosts and families.

🐑 Back Country Stations: Rakaia to Kaikoura Coast - 7 day tour

We were recently looking through some photos from our Back Country Stations tour and we were reminded just how special this journey is.

This experience takes you through the hidden corners of Canterbury, the Hurunui, the Kaikōura Ranges, and the Clarence River Valley, before finishing in Marlborough with a private lunch cruise through the sheltered bays and inlets of Queen Charlotte Sound.
