This new survivalist lifestyle pushed the indigenous to become more and more independent, growing their food in large hydroponic caves and abandoning breeding, being too complex underground. Being forced to rebuild society they focused on the basics: food, shelter and entertainment. Before the great cold, sports and competitions were very popular. With the planet being covered in ice, it was inevitable that ice hockey would become the national sport. This new sense of Independence and freedom got the people to rebel against the political system. Many anti-government and anarchist riots exploded everywhere. One day, Bruce Kallaghan, the national ice hockey hero entered the congress room with a chainsaw and massacred whatever was left of their political world. This day is known as the “Last Congress”. Generations later the planet has slowly regained its population. Most people have become punk, hardcore and ice hockey enthusiasts. Partying their life away underground, they started to realize that the planet didn’t need their help. For the first time in almost 500 years, signs of life started to show on the surface. Some even said that natural vegetation had started to grow, way down south, on a rock face, where the ice had melted. GHL is a hardcore band from a frozen planet. They have been touring the caverns for a few years and spend most of their spare time playing ice hockey and partying at punk shows. The GHL team was goofing around in an old government facility when they discovered a strange machine, half Ute, half spaceship. They called it the space Ute. They soon enough understood how it worked and started visiting other planets around theirs. Only once, did they accidentally set up the navigation system to planet Earth. A place so bad, that no one in the entire universe ever wanted to visit. They had learnt all about it on their trips. Earthlings appeared in their minds as mean and very conservative. They crashed pretty badly here in Aotearoa New Zealand at the beginning of 2023 and haven’t been able to leave since, their space Ute being unfixable with the technology available on Earth.
