Having a young toddler can be so unpredictable at the best of times, even more so at a photoshoot!

We all have the image in our mind of those beautiful sibling photos where they’re loving on each other, and sometimes that happens, and sometimes it doesn’t.

When I arrived at this lovely families house, I was told that the toddler meeting the newborn had been on the more challenging side with big bro not being super impressed with the new baby.

I got myself ready to get creative now knowing the toddler might give a bit of push back, but he did great! The parents said to me at the end “we expected that to last all of 20 mins with mostly tears”, and it wasn’t that at all, so as I said, always unpredictable 😝

You can see the result of some of my ‘creativeness’ on photo number 7, where we gave the toddler raisins and he was so kind to share one with baby sister 🥴

Welcome to the world baby girl.

Birth is absolutely fascinating.

One of the things you can see during labor is the rounding of the Rhombus of Michaelis (sometimes called the birth triangle). In this photo, it’s that slight bulging in the lower back that the shadows of this very dark room just allow us to see. For some people it’s very distinct, and others a lot more subtle—but it’s a clear sign that the baby’s head is descending and the body is doing exactly what it needs to make space for birth.

This happens as the pelvis shifts and opens, working together with the spine and muscles in an incredible display of how perfectly designed the birthing process is. Positions like leaning forward or being on all fours can encourage this movement, helping the body create more room for the baby to move down.

Witnessing this in action is very cool, along with all the other smaller details that happen. As it’s not just about the big moments but also the subtle, powerful ways the body works to bring a baby earthside 🙌🏼

Can you see it in this photo?? Or is it just because I was there and could see it with my eyes that I can see it in the photo? 😅
