We have an important message.

Recently there have been a few business email compromises happen in Ashburton, this is when you’re tricked into supplying your username and password to a hacker that then gains full access to your email account, cloud storage and more.

Here are a few things to remember.

1. Businesses / people will usually send you an attached file, not a link to a file on their server / cloud storage.

2. If you have to put in YOUR username and password when you click a link that’s a red flag. Stop what you’re doing and delete the email.

3. Don’t open unsolicited or strange emails even if it’s from someone you know.
These messages are coming in showing they might be quotes or invoices but will be in a different format to how you usually receive them.

4. If in doubt, call the person who sent the email to confirm.

If you think you’ve been compromised, reach out to your IT support, of course we are happy to help if required

Probably 3-4 minutes in a presentation environment this Microsoft account was compromised from a link that would normally be received in a phishing style email.
Username, password and more importantly the MFA approved session was stolen.

Result was the threat actor could them instantly access your account without needing your MFA code again!
