Fairfax County police released body-camera footage from a deadly domestic violence incident that happened on Feb. 23.

A 54-year-old man fatally stabbed his wife and adult daughter and seriously injured his son-in-law inside their apartment.

When officers arrived, they found him armed with a knife and actively attacking; he refused commands to drop the weapon.

Police then shot and killed the suspect at the scene.

The son-in-law was hospitalized in critical condition, while a 1-year-old child inside the home was unharmed.

The officer involved has been placed on restricted duty during an investigation, which is standard procedure.

Police leadership said the video shows the officer likely prevented further deaths.
