“We will care for this library all our lives — and then our children will continue after us. This library is our hope for the future.” – Radha Sadaya, President, Dinabhadri Community Library & Resource Center
What started as a simple dream — for their children to have access to education — has become something far more profound.
Together, the community searched for ways to break free from poverty and bonded labour. Along that journey, they built something powerful: a space of their own to gather, learn, imagine, and rise.
On 14 November, that very foundation was inaugurated — beautifully — by the hands of their own children.
Every wall, every brick, every corner of this library carries its story of courage, unity, and hope.
To sustain this dream, the community has launched its own income-generating initiative: renting a tuk-tuk, utensils, and a sound system for local events. These earnings will support the library’s ongoing administrative costs.
This is a powerful reminder of what a marginalized community can achieve when they are trusted, empowered, and given the space to lead.
And we, at READ, proudly reaffirm our commitment to walk alongside them as they continue to unlock their potential and shape their own future.
