Many transgender people have experienced sexual violence simply because they identify as transgender. Their gender identity often makes them more vulnerable to discrimination, harassment, abuse, and exploitation.

Due to widespread stigma, prejudice, and a lack of legal and social protection, transgender individuals are disproportionately at risk of sexual violence in their homes, schools, workplaces, public spaces, and healthcare settings. No one should ever face violence because of who they are or how they identify, and every transgender person deserves to live with dignity, safety, and equal rights.

For LBT people, family is the greatest source of strength in living openly and proudly with their gender identity and sexual orientation.

Acceptance, love, and support from family build confidence, dignity, and better mental health. But when families fail to understand or accept their children, the emotional impact can be profound.

Every person deserves to be loved, accepted, and celebrated for who they are.

A historic milestone for menstrual justice and inclusion! 🌈🩸

Unity for Change (UFC) proudly hosted Nepal’s First National Symposium on Trans Menstruation, bringing together government representatives, development partners, health professionals, activists, researchers, media, and community members to advance menstrual dignity for trans men and gender-diverse people.

Chaired by UFC President Mr. Sudip Gautam, we were deeply honored by the presence of our Chief Guest, Hon. MP Bhumika Shrestha and our Special Guests, Mr. Badri Khatri, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Women, Children, Gender and S*xual Minorities and Social Security, and Ms. Radha Paudel, Founder, Radha Paudel Foundation and Global South Coalition for Dignified Menstruation, whose inspiring remarks reinforced the importance of inclusive policies, equitable healthcare, and menstrual dignity for all.

The symposium marked an important step toward amplifying community voices, sharing groundbreaking evidence on trans menstruation, and advancing collective recommendations to strengthen inclusive menstrual health and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in Nepal.

Together, we are breaking stigma, fostering dialogue, and ensuring that menstrual dignity is a human right for everyone who menstruates.

Thank you to our presenters, panelists, provincial community representatives, and all participants for making this convening meaningful!

Many LBT (Le***an, Bisexual, and Transman) individuals face rejection and exclusion from their families and society because of their gender identity and sexuality.

It is important for families to understand and respect their children's feelings, needs, and identities. When families provide support and acceptance, LBT individuals can live openly, safely, and with dignity as their authentic selves.
