🌍 Global Action for Freedom 2026 🌍

We are proud to be working alongside 30+ organisations to bring Global Action for Freedom 2026 to life. This is a first-of-its-kind global solidarity movement taking place 18–22 April 2026.

Led by Freedom in Disasters, this initiative brings together individuals, communities, and organisations across the world to take a stand against human trafficking and modern slavery, particularly in disaster contexts where vulnerability is at its highest.

This year’s Global Action for Freedom places a strong spotlight on the launch of the International Standard for Counter Human Trafficking in Disasters β€” a groundbreaking framework designed to guide governments, humanitarian actors, and organisations in preventing trafficking risks before, during, and after disasters. This milestone represents a critical step toward embedding anti-trafficking measures into global disaster preparedness and response systems.

We’re already seeing incredible momentum, with fundraising and awareness activities underway across three continents, demonstrating the growing global commitment to this cause.

As part of the week of action, people will also come together for a Charity Hike in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal on 22 April, symbolising solidarity and collective action toward a world free from exploitation.

We’re excited to share more updates soon including keynote speakers, partner initiatives, and ways to get involved.

πŸ‘‰ Stay tuned and join us in taking action for freedom.

Today, on International Migrants Day, we underline the need to protect migrants' rights and well-being. It has been shown that displacement in the aftermath of disasters increases the vulnerability of affected persons, and can thereby create opportunities for migrant smugglers and human traffickers to promote migrant smuggling services or human trafficking into exploitative or forced labour.

Therefore, we are calling for more international cooperation towards the establishment of better policies to protect migrants from all forms of exploitation, including from migrant smuggling and human trafficking!
