no one defended me, so i learned how to stand up for myself; no one protected me when people tried to tear me down, so i became my own shield; no one saved me when everything was falling apart, so i picked up the pieces alone; i had to figure things out even when i was scared and had no idea what to do; nobody came when i was breaking, nobody reached for me when i was drowning in my own thoughts, so i taught myself how to swim through the pain; i had to be strong when all i wanted was to collapse into tears, i had to keep going when every part of me wanted to give up, and that's when i realized sometimes the only person you can truly depend on is yourself.
