We spent two and a half years learning that the model was never the hard part.

Building Ida — our AI Engineering Agent — the real engineering effort went into everything around the model. The constraints. The verification gates. The feedback loops. The physics-range enforcement that makes it impossible for Ida to output a mud weight no drilling engineer would ever accept.

Today we’re taking another big step on the path toward Artificial Engineering Intelligence (AEI), and releasing Ida 2.0, our most capable ai engineering agent to date. Ida 2.0 delivers significant improvements in speed, reliability, and quality across all objectives and task types.

From a system standpoint, the Ida 2.0 architecture offers much improved stability, fault tolerance, and security, making the system way more trustworthy also for production workloads Expanded operational control & customization provides deep observability into agent behaviour, a requisite for agents to build trust with human engineers and other users.

In our internal benchmarks, the Ida 2.0 achieved significant improvement in task quality compared with previous models. Testers highlighted the model’s improved relevance, and structure in its responses, and reported she was easier to understand.

Exciting times. Not just due to the fact that it is summer 🌞 in the northern hemisphere, but because we are introducing the next generation of Ida, our first AI-powered engineer 👷‍♀️ .

Setting new standards for advanced reasoning and inference capabilities, as well as enhancing complex task management. Also, a new powerful feature extractor significantly boosts Ida’s adaptability and generalization, allowing her to tackle complex, real-world environments with increased confidence and efficiency. The most significant upgrade since December last year.

Other news from the latest release include:

i) Taking care of simulations, and important and often time-consuming part of an engineer’s life. Using proprietary dynamic transient modelling, she not only frees up engineers’ time, but help reduce risk and optimize plans.

ii) Data search and retrieval, analysis (e.g. DDRs, EOWRs), and reporting (progress, and performance).

iii) To boot, we're introducing seamless integration with the tools and workflows energy companies already rely on, and have invested in. Making it easier for Ida’s customers to get started, and scale usage quickly.

We have also started external testing of our Engineering SME – your AI powered thinking partner. Think Claude or ChatGPT for drilling engineers. Things are about to get interesting!
