🎉 We’ve just hit a milestone: We've tracked over 700 million kg of materials on our blockchain-enabled platform!
This represents 0.08% of the plastic globally, but every bit counts in our journey towards a fully transparent circular economy. Data is crucial for advancing circular economies, and we are determined to keep pushing the boundaries, tracking more to enhance visibility and transparency around material flows. 🌏
A huge thank you to our amazing partners who share our vision and commitment 🤝♻️ We keep on going!

Material traceability expansion in Argentina 🇦🇷
Empower.eco's partnership with Delterra is in full swing as Delterra has formed a partnership with Conexión Reciclado to implement Empower’s material traceability tool for the value chain of post-consumer packaging waste in Argentina.
In 2024, the project aims to trace 30.000 tons of recycled materials from more than 30 actors in the circular economy in all regions of Argentina, which includes municipalities, cooperatives of urban recoverers, collectors and recycling industries. This initiative benefits the entire chain by promoting an increase in the recycling rate, sponsoring investments and incentives, and making processes transparent and efficient with the help of Empower traceability software.

🇸🇹WE HAVE A WASTE CHALLENGE HERE 👀
This week, Empower.eco is in São Tomé and Príncipe, conducting a feasibility study for a digital waste collection and material traceability system with the UNDP.
Plastic is becoming an acute issue in STP for the small population of the country:
🌴The tropical rainforest of Sao Tome and Principe is second among Africa’s 75 forests in terms of importance for bird conservation.
🌎As the second smallest African country, it is one of the most vulnerable countries to the effects of climate change because of its unique geographical characteristics, including the fragility of its ecosystems and low level of socio-economic development.
🌊The entire population is considered 'coastal,' and because of steep topography and seasonally high rainfall, any mismanaged plastic waste could potentially enter the marine environment.
We are here to understand the local situation and see how we can implement Empower.eco incentive system to create better conditions for informal workers and to get plastic out of the environment and put it in the right place - to be recycled!

"Plastic waste is not just an environmental problem; it is also a human problem." - shares Johnson, one of the from Maximus Recycling
💪Maximus Recycling Solutions uses innovative technology to solve the environmental challenges in their host communities. Through their plastic collection hubs, they offer cash incentives in exchange for plastic waste. Maximus has taken on the digitizations of their plastic volumes with Empower’s platform with great eagerness and is benefitting from both the digital transformation of their inventory as well as the Plastic Credit scheme, which encourages larger volumes of plastic to be recovered from and avoided ending up in nature in their community in Nigeria.
Have a glimpse into Maximus Recycling work, plastic waste consequences on the community, and the efforts to make it more circular. 💚
