𝒲𝑒 𝒸𝓇𝑒𝒶𝓉𝑒 𝓈𝒽𝒶𝓅𝑒𝓈, 𝓃𝑜𝓉 𝓈𝒾𝓏𝑒𝓈 🪷🍄🐛🌳

Inspired by scholars such as Veronika Glitsch and the artist group The Rational Dress Society, we’ve decided to offer shapes, and not standardized sizes here at TUBU. And of course we had to rename them as well.

This might be confusing to some, as we’ve grown quite attached to the numbers and letters we decide are “ours”, i.e. the garments we take with us when we’re headed to a fitting room, a bit sweaty and uncomfortable.

We have four shapes in our apparel system. Each shape embodies four ”sizes” in one (in total more than 16 ”sizes”), due to the flexibility of the ribbed knit garment.

Our current shapes are:

Nelumbo 🪷
Amanita 🍄
Papilio 🐛
Betula 🌳

These are the Latin names for the lotus flower, the fly agaric mushroom, the butterfly caterpillar and the birch tree — all beautiful shapes in nature that shift and transform, according to cycles of life and seasons 🫧

We have to note that this is not a finished system. This is merely a start. If you cannot find your shape — let us know. We want to create garments for you and would love to get your measurements in order to continue on our path of more inclusive design 🧬
