Rotterdam has over 1,100 secure bike hangars on its residential streets, one of the largest programmes of its kind in Europe and a reference point for cities developing their own approach.

The units are made by Fietshangar and have been running on Gemeente Rotterdam's streets since the early 2000s. The same product is now deployed in Ireland, Italy, Germany, the UK, Belgium, and Norway.
