What does it mean to be European today?
From 6–15 November 2026, FOTODOK presents “A Wider Gaze” at Atelier Néerlandais () in Paris, in the lead-up to Paris Photo ().
Bringing together ten artists and photographers working across photography, video, installation, textiles, and archival materials, the exhibition explores themes of belonging, identity, labour, migration, memory, and colonial legacies. Rather than offering a single narrative of Europe, “A Wider Gaze” invites visitors to encounter multiple perspectives, histories, and lived experiences.
The title draws on the Ancient Greek roots of the word Europe — eurys-ops, meaning “wide gaze.” In a time marked by division and uncertainty, the exhibition asks: can we still see beyond borders and differences to recognise what connects us?

At our recent FOTOKIDS workshop (), we explored Sun Prints and the creative possibilities of working with light. After looking at examples of photograms and artists who use light-sensitive processes, the children headed outside to experiment with layering, transparency, and found materials.
The results ranged from abstract compositions to playful impressions of hands, hair, and everyday objects. Each Sun Print reflected a different approach, showing how a simple technique can lead to endless variations and discoveries.
As FOTOKIDS came to a close, parents were invited to take a closer look at the vibrant blue prints and guess what was hidden within them before the artworks went home with their makers.
