Today we’d love to shine a light on four artists from our current groupshow WHEN FLOWERS SLEEP; each offering a distinct way of seeing, sensing, and slowing down the world around us 🔥

During her winter stay in northern Norway, Noor van der Wal created ‘First signs of bright sunlight, February 5th, 2024’, capturing the very first sunrays returning after 28 days of darkness. Shown as the original 4×5” positive film in a small lightbox, the moment feels suspended, a quiet breath of light reappearing after a long absence.

With her work ‘mirror mirror #4’, Annie Beugel lets water and sky merge into an in-between space where perception and memory drift together. The piece invites a slower kind of looking, an experience rather than an image, beautifully presented in a natural wooden floater frame.

In ‘Experienced’, Karin van de Laar uses double exposure to hold a simple truth: “No flowers grow without rain and no human grows without pain. It’s not perfect, but it’s come a long way.” Shown in a Mansonia float frame, the work carries both softness and resilience.

For ‘Decay of Matter’, Katia Motylova-Babinska irradiated steppe flowers directly on film, allowing destruction to mark the emulsion itself. The resulting unique work, framed in white wood, embodies ecological fragility, turning the photographic surface into a site where memory and material slowly transform.
