It comes out annually and bilingually (English and Arabic) in print form, collecting contributions from designers, thinkers, and artists around a chosen theme. The publication is the brainchild of Maya Moumne and Hatem Imam, creative directors of the graphic design and art direction agency Studio Safar.

When Argentina’s economy collapsed in 2001, citizens turned away from the peso and began printing their own paper money, handmade notes called ‘créditos’. and unpack this nationwide experiment in barter, collective trust, and a subversive reimagining of value and the very idea of money itself.

Journal Safar #8 is launching in Montreal this month! We’re gathering at one of our favorite spots in Mile End—Nouveau Palais () on Thursday March 13, from 7:30pm to 9:30pm.
