𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴
The NIPT. You'll hear it mentioned early in your pregnancy and it's one of those things that comes with a lot of questions.
So here's what it is. The NIPT is a blood test that can be done from 11 weeks. It screens for chromosomal conditions like Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome and Patau syndrome. It's not a diagnostic test, it gives you a probability, not a certainty. If results come back high risk, further testing is always the next step.
It's also a choice. Not an obligation. Some women want to know. Some don't. Some are unsure until they're sitting in front of us.
