Wat een avontuur was dit! In Rachel & Elbert Passen Op mochten onze dierenvrienden het boerenleven ervaren bij biologische in Son en Breugel.

Samen met boer , boerin .schots , hun drie meiden en natuurlijk boerderijhond Saartje werd er hard gewerkt: koeien melken, kippen voeren, leveranciers ontvangen én de weide klaarmaken. Zelfs een geboorte (én een verdrietig afscheid) maakten Rachel en Elbert van dichtbij mee.

Terwijl de boer en zijn gezin eindelijk eens even vakantie vierden, stond het erf op z’n kop… en zagen we hoe Rachel en Elbert zich staande hielden tussen al het harde boerenwerk.

After five years we can finally present our 70-minute documentary “Custaryans” (Bewariërs in Dutch), three stories are told about Jewish possessions stored during the Second World War, their Jewish owners and their non-Jewish protectors. Against the background of the post-war period, which was not just one of reconstruction and togetherness. Rising anti-Semitism, excessive bureaucracy that made restoration of human rights impossible and focus solely on the heroic deeds of the fallen and not on the suffering of the Jewish community. These were the ingredients of a social climate that made it impossible for many Jews to build a life in the Netherlands after the Second World War. A gap in the collective memory of the Dutch, which has not yet been filled more than 75 years later.
