BYCS
We envision an urban future in which half of city trips are by bicycle by the end of the decade. To help achieve this, we facilitate the development of bicycle cultures in cities across the world, striving towards this bold vision that we call 50x30.
As the sun shines, the trees bloom and temperature rises, take a moment to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us every day.
While busy schedules and stressful days can distract you, today, for World Earth Day, take a step outside, breathe in the fresh air, listen to the birds chirping, simply take a moment to be with nature.
At BYCS, we believe that the bicycle is more than just a way to get around. It’s a powerful force for transformation. Shifting our daily trips to two wheels may seem like a small change, but it is one that ripples outward: cleaner air, nature growth and a deeper sense of connection to our planet. This Earth Day, let’s all actively take a step to protect our planet. True actions come when we start rethinking our choices.
This video was taken from our Cycle for Better Health programme in Bari, where kids were asked about why they think cycling is the key to the future. Happy Earth Day.

Today is Black Friday (as you may have noticed) - what does that mean for cities, communities, and particularly, caregivers?
We are likely familiar with the ethical issues of fast fashion sweatshops in Bangladesh, e-vehicle battery mineral mining in Congo, and dangerous working practices forced on the Global South. What we often forget is that it is the children, women and caregivers, that are carrying the weight. The same people exploited across global supply chains are the ones keeping families, neighbourhoods, and cities functioning, while simultaneously facing the harshest impacts of pollution and economic instability. And when mobility is limited, when safe, accessible transport is out of reach, it is women who first lose the independence to find safer and fairer jobs, or any alternative at all.
If we want healthier cities and more just communities, we need to value the people who make life possible. Caregivers deserve more than a discounted world built on someone else’s sacrifice, they deserve jobs and cities designed for dignity, safety, and connection. And small choices, like supporting community-led movements, choosing fairer systems, and embracing human-scale mobility, help shift power back to those who care.
This Black Friday, and in recognition of CareGiving Month, let’s honour the hands that carry our communities every day. Donate now to support initiatives bringing mobility to caregivers around the world.
