SSL/TLS Certificate Validity to Be Reduced to 47 Days by 2029
Currently, SSL/TLS certificates are limited to 398 days but, by March 2029, certificate validity will be gradually reduced to just 47 days. New industry requirements for public Secure Email (SMIME) certificates
New upcoming, mandatory change to the issuance of publicly trusted S/MIME (Secure/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) certificates will be implemented end-August 2023. This change is driven by the CA/Browser Forum (CABF) and aims to enhance email communication's security and trustworthiness.

The change in the rules for issuing public OV code signing certificates has been postponed until 1 June 2023
As we published previously, the CA/B Forum proposed a start date of 15 November 2022 for switching to storing private keys for OV code signing certificates on devices that meet FIPS 140 Level 2, Common Criteria EAL 4+ or similar security standards. However, the decision was made to extend the transition period.
