Amsterdam Data Collective - ADC

The world around us is digitising rapidly and the IT sector offers many job opportunities. We believe it is important that children start building awareness of the digital world from an early age, preparing them for their futures. As a result, we partnered with  to organise trainings for students between the ages of 8 and 12 to work with programming and learn more about computer language, algorithms, and automation.   
  
Recently, Dennis Knol, Max Dieleman, and Diederik Nederhorst gave a Digital Skills training session for a group of children in Amsterdam. Max (Consultant):  
  
"Our goal is to create a playful and interactive first coding experience. We gave two trainings in which we taught the fundamentals of an algorithm by asking the children to program a robot and write a few first lines of code in Scratch to walk through a maze. Seeing the enthusiasm of the children was incredibly rewarding!"

The AI4kids program is an initiative by ADC to teach kids in disadvantaged neighbourhoods about the possibilities of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. The ultimate goal is to increase the equality of opportunities. During our 2022 Collective Week, we created a new workshop to teach youth about data-driven recommendations in the context of social media. 
 
Dennis Knol (Consultant and AI4Kids Founder): “It is amazing to see how kids react to our workshops. The kids are quick to understand the data science concepts we explain in the workshops and some get very enthusiastic about a possible future career in the field of AI!”
