In\asense is last year’s final Fabricademy project. It explores how garments can become interactive vessels for human experience, moving beyond aesthetics to create a multisensory dialogue. The design process incorporates material experimentation, innovative textiles, and interactive elements that engage multiple senses. From scented bio-plastics to sound-reactive garments, each piece is crafted to embody a sensory world rather than just an aesthetic vision. This methodology allows for deeper storytelling—where fashion is not just seen but felt, heard, and even smelled.
With one week to go we can’t wait to see the final results of this year’s Fabri participants. On the 16th of April you can celebrate their final projects with us during the Fabricademy show at !
Fabricademy is a 6-month educational program that runs in many labs around the world and combines hands-on making with online classes and tutorials, led by worldwide experts. Thinking of joining the tenth edition of Fabricademy? Applications are open! Both links in bio.

Join us Tuesday 12 December for an evening about research and stories!
Together we will listen to people that do research into plants and related topics with a strong emphasis on the culture context in which their research is embedded like Norbert Peeters, artist Marjolein Hessels and TextileLab’s creative researcher Cecilia Raspanti!! We are excited to share some fragments of the amazing work of our former intern, Shushanik Droshakiryan .
During her six-month internship at our lab, she created a project called SŪF: Time Travelling.
SŪF is a bio-garment, a prototype made of alginate-based bioplastics and raw Dutch wool. Inspired by ancient Sufi* traditions, the making of SŪF has been a unique journey of research and experimentation for innovative biomaterial design.
SŪF bio-garment was intentionally a time-consuming process. Over 96 hours were spent placing the wool fibres inside algae bioplastic. SŪF is a “fragile armour dress” manifesting the strength of the vulnerable Feminie. SŪF is a raw material, a concept and a process of making.
Make sure to check out more on her profile
*Sufis were mystics famous for their whirling technics practised inside hidden caves in the Caucasus. These men wore thick, itchy woollen garments.
