A Word In Due Season

People Development.

“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2:2

A true leader is a people developer. Leadership is not a position or a title . It is the ability to influence and inspire people to be better and do better than they were doing by themselves. A leader is an improver. A leader adds value to people. Jesus said, “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” See Matthew 4:19

How do you know that you are following a leader? Answer: You are getting better. A leader will never leave you the way he meets you. A leader will stretch you. A leader will enlarge your vision. A leader will inspire you. A leader will challenge you to leave your comfort zone.

Leaders are never satisfied with average. They know they are called to bring out the best in people. A leader leaves you better than the way he finds you. Leaders are intentional. They make friends with people to improve their lives.

People development is the intentional act of furnishing individuals or groups of individuals with the information, the instructions and the insight that will help them develop better character, increase their competence and multiply their impact in society.

The goal of people development is to help people grow spiritually, help them identify, develop and deploy their potential, acquire new skills, raise other leaders, multiply the rate of Kingdom advancement and transform society. The more mature believers we have in society the greater the impact of the Kingdom we will see in the world around us.
