THE MAN WHO WALKED WITHOUT SHADOWS
Everyone noticed it at sunset.
As the sun dropped low, people’s shadows stretched long across the ground—
except one man’s.
He walked the same road every evening, calm and steady, but no shadow followed him.
Children whispered.
Adults stared.
Some said he was cursed.
One day, a curious boy asked him,
“Sir, why don’t you have a shadow?”
The man smiled and replied,
“I used to.”
He sat on a stone and continued:
“I lost it the day I stopped living for applause.
The day I stopped pretending.
The day I stopped carrying expectations that were never mine.”
The boy frowned.
“But everyone has a shadow.”
“Yes,” the man said softly.
“Shadows are formed when light is behind you.
I chose to walk toward the light.”
As the sun finally disappeared, darkness covered the road—
and for the first time, everyone lost their shadows too.
That night, they understood:
Freedom looks strange to those still walking away from themselves.
