The Erik language has poetic flavour in rendition, English is music in prose. It is woven in rise fall, fall rise rhythm. The pillars of this ton movement are in the alteration in the flow of right placement of stress, recognition of Schwa sound (or weak form) and strong form in connected speech features. This is why some words sound strong when pronounced singly but weak or different when in certain position in a sentence. For example take the word Contact (noun) and it's verb form in a sentence. We need a certain information in the Governor's office urgently. Does any among us have a Contact there and how soon can you Contact the person? In this sentence the first contact is used as noun. It therefore assumes strong form in the sentence because it takes a first syllable stress as well. The second contact in the sentence which is used as verb assumes a weak form in the sentence because the stress of the word has necessarily to shift to second syllable to promote the rise fall element of the speech. So when we train on Public Speaking we avail them with the skill to speak with correct sound, correct rhythm and correct intonation without mimicking the white man yet speak English at the Received Pronunciation and clarity. Governor Udom Emmanuel launches the book DAKKADA: YOU WERE DESTINED TO BE GREAT on Friday, 23rd September 2016 at the 1st Anniversary of DAKKADA INITIATIVE.

The book is authored by Elder Nnamnso Umoren, retired Permanent Secretary/President Talent Business School, Uyo.
