With a heart full of gratitude, I'm delighted to announce the completion of my BSc in Geoinformatics and Surveying from the University of Uyo. First, I thank God for His grace, protection, and love that saw me through this journey. To my family and friends who supported me every step of the way - thank you for believing in me.
My university experience has been enriched with various leadership opportunities. Starting from my first year in 2018, I served on the NIGS election committee 2018/2019, which gave me my first taste of administrative responsibilities. By my penultimate year, I had grown to become the Secretary General of the Faculty of Environmental Students Association (FESSA) University of Uyo. In this role, I'm proud to have modernized our administrative processes by introducing an automated system for minutes writing and delivery.
One of my most fulfilling experiences was chairing the inaugural Nigerian Institution of Geo-informatics and Surveying (NIGS) Awards committee in my final year 2023/2024. The event was a remarkable success, recognizing excellence among both students and lecturers. We celebrated academic achievements, leadership, sports excellence, and various other talents within our department. Special recognition went to outstanding individuals like Mr. B. D. Nwilag (Lecturer of the Year) and Mr. Okon E. Ubom (Outstanding Mentorship Award), among many other deserving winners. I was voted and awarded the Student philanthropist of the Year, Best dressed male student of the year and the Outstanding Stakeholder of the year.
The pinnacle of my academic journey was completing my final year project on " exploring unmanned aerial vehicle (uav) imagery for object height extraction in the university of uyo annex campus, uyo. This research combined drone technology with traditional surveying methods to measure building heights across our campus. Working with UAV imagery and ground-based measurements, we achieved remarkable accuracy with RMSE values of 0.665 across a 29.81-hectare study area. Our methodology demonstrated the efficiency of integrating modern UAV technology with traditional surveying techniques for precise height measurements.

”ABSTRACT
This project explored the efficacy of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) imagery for accurate building height extraction at the University of Uyo, Annex Campus, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, covering a total area of approximately 30.1 hectares. The study employed a DJI Phantom 4 Pro for image acquisition, GNSS receivers for establishment of ground control points and a Kolida KTS-462R10LC for building height measurements as ground reference data. The study aimed to assess the reliability and precision of photogrammetric techniques in deriving building heights from high-resolution UAV imagery, compared to conventional surveying methods. The methodology involved a comprehensive workflow from data acquisition, data processing, result presentation, to statistical analysis. The acquired images were processed in Pix4D mapper producing ortho-mosaic and digital elevation models (digital terrain and surface models) of the study area. Building heights were extracted from the normalised digital surface model created from subtracting the digital terrain model from the digital surface model in ArcGIS. From the processing report generated in Pix4D, root mean square errors of 8cm, 4cm and 6cm were achieved in the x, y, z directions. Extracted building heights were compared to the measured building heights and a root mean square error of 0.665m was achieved demonstrating the agreement between the extracted and measured building heights. Other statistical analyses carried out were the paired two-sample for means t-Test and correlation analysis and they all corroborate the capability of UAV in height measurement. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that UAV photogrammetry offers a viable alternative to traditional surveying methods for height measurement, although certain limitations such as flying height, spatial resolution of camera and overlap must be addressed for enhanced accuracy.”

Through these experiences, I've developed robust skills in UAV operations, spatial data analysis, and GIS applications. More importantly, I've learned the value of teamwork, leadership, and continuous learning in achieving professional excellence.
As I step into the professional world, I'm excited to apply these skills and experiences in meaningful ways. I'm particularly interested in opportunities involving geospatial technology, surveying, and environmental mapping.
