Patient (Px): I can't see far, especially in class. The board is blurry from my seat.
Doctor (Dr): Where do you usually sit in class?
Px: I sit in the front row.
Dr: How long have you been experiencing this issue?
Px: It's been a really long time. I even have to sit really close to the TV at home to see.
Dr: Alright, we'll conduct some tests to figure out what might be causing this.

After running a series of tests, the doctor diagnosed the patient as being short-sighted (myopic).
Dr: You have short-sightedness, and you'll need glasses to help you see better at a distance.
Px: Okay, so how long do I have to wear the glasses until my eyes are fixed?...

This is a typical conversation that happens with patients who are getting glasses for the first time. Many of them mistakenly believe that glasses will cure their vision problems, which isn't always the case.

Wearing glasses corrects your vision while you have them on. When you wear the prescription glasses, your vision for distant objects becomes clear. That's the correction.
