🚨| This is impressive.

It just came to my attention that institutions like Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc, Vetiva Capital Management Limited, and others have introduced Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) in the Nigerian market. This is indeed remarkable and shows how the Nigerian capital market is evolving.

Stanbic IBTC, in particular, offers an ETF that replicates the NGX 30 Index, which tracks 30 of the most capitalized and liquid companies on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. This allows investors to gain diversified exposure to Nigeria’s strongest listed firms through a single investment.

Vetiva has also introduced thematic ETFs, including those tracking sector indices such as industrial goods, while Absa Group Limited sponsors the NewGold ETF, giving Nigerian investors exposure to gold through the stock market.

Even more encouraging is the emergence of the NGX Lotus Islamic Index, which provides Shariah-compliant investment options — something many investors have been asking for. The availability of products built around this index marks a significant step toward inclusive investing.

This shift clearly indicates that the Nigerian stock market is maturing, with more structured products, diversification opportunities, and investor-friendly instruments becoming available faster than many anticipated.

Notwithstanding i must warn and caution my fellow Muslims to always verify those ETFs to avoid investing in non shariah complaint Stocks.
