NGO DISTRIBUTES WRITING MATERIALS TO STUDENTS IN ANDONI LGA OF RIVERS STATE
The Creek Foundation has distributed learning materials to some public secondary schools in Rivers State, as part of her effort to enhance quality education.
The foundation in her first phase of donation visited Community Secondary School Inyong-orong, in Andoni local government area of Rivers State.
The distribution tagged “Welcome back to school,” was done by Barr. O. N Adienbo the Executive Director of the NGO.
Barr Adienbo said that the intervention was to assist less privileged students in public and low-income secondary schools with learning materials at the beginning of every school term.
In line with the United Nations convention on the Legal rights of every child's education, It is our belief as an organisation that every Nigerian child deserves quality education.
“We decided to give some students of the school, school supplies, such as exercise books, pens, pencils, sharpeners, and rulers,” she said.
Barr Adienbo said she was optimistic that the gesture would enhance the learning experience of the beneficiaries and lead to an increase in the completion and transition of quality education in the Niger Delta.
In his remarks, Mr. OGOGONTE A. HARRY, the principal of the school commended the organisation for the generosity and thoughtfulness toward the students.
Ogogonte said that a lot of students in the school were in need of the donated items, noting that the idea, was a welcome development.
Also speaking, Mr. Jonathan Anderson, the principal of the UBE section stated that the initiative would enhance the quality learning process among the students. However Applauded the Organization for her kind gesture, and instilling smiles on the faces of the students.
An indigen of the community Dr. MBU DICKSON MBU commended the organization for the initiative and called on the government to employ more teachers to the schools in rural areas in order to enhance learning.
He urged other NGOs to replicate such initiative, by providing school furniture, boreholes, and other basic infrastructure to schools.
