Teaching: How Parents Should Train Their Children
Parents are the first teachers God gives to a child. Training a child is not only about correcting wrong behavior, but about guiding the heart with love, patience, and wisdom.
The Bible says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). This means parents should teach children good values early—honesty, respect, kindness, obedience, and faith in God.
Children learn more from what parents do than from what they say. When parents show love, self-control, prayer, and good character, children naturally copy these behaviors. Discipline should be firm but loving, not harsh. Correcting a child should help them understand right from wrong, not make them afraid.
Parents should also listen to their children, encourage them, and guide them according to their age and this present generation, where knowledge, technology, and peer influence are strong. Teaching children to fear God, make wise choices, and respect others prepares them to grow into responsible and godly adults.
In summary: Train with love, teach by example, correct with wisdom, and commit your children into God’s hands.
