PhD students and early-career researchers, you need to read this article through. You'd find out that it supports no less my quest for the introduction of research impact assessment (RIA) in Nigeria R&D initiatives. Now, some countries including Australia have gone on to introduce Research Impact and Engagement to PhD students and early-career researchers. Yet, we as a country don't even have an institutional framework for RIA...Sad! Please, let's not mix up issues here - project/research monitoring, which is currently being canvased all over the media in Nigeria, is not RIA.
