THE PERILOUS NATURE OF DILAPIDATED ROAD NETWORK IN OYO TOWN:OUR CONCERN.

It was a call to service when the appointment of Hon.Kamil Akinlabi ,former Member,House of Represnetative representing Oyo Federal Constituency as the Chairman, Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSTROMA). Indeed! It was a well deserving appointment as all looked up to the appointed as a man of calibre and timber. A very large numbers of Oyo Town Indigene were elated and jubilant thinking that a New Dawn will survey in Oyo Federal Constituency over the Dilapidated condition of Road in the Region .

The expectation took a U-turn when roads are being rehabilitated in most of other zones in the State neglecting the Chairman's Home town. The big questions arose "Was the Chairman unaware of the havoc some of the dipladiated roads in the town has caused?" or "Is the Process toward the Rehabilitation of Major Roads in Oyo Town intentionally being Delayed from the Power that be or why the delay in Launching the idead being launched by Mr Governor in Oyo Town also?"

It is undoubtedly to say that the major roads linking the four local government has nothing to write home about as at the Present moment. Following the tracks of history, Oyo has always been at the loosing end when it comes to infrastructural development despite the fact that the town has produced a Commisioner for Works, Yunus Akintunde who served under Late Isiaka Ajimobi, the Former Governor of Oyo State.Though this could upsurge so many controversies as regard the discharge of responsibility of the personality during his tenure, You can compare and contrast the rate of development in other zones with ours in Oyo.

We would get to a point where we cares about issues that matter. It is of no gainsay that lives are being put in risk because of the dilapidated state of major roads linking different parts in Oyo town. In the past, maintenance of roads was the major role successfully played by Local Government which are referred to as the Grassroot government but it is nothing to write about as misplace of priority has took over all the Local Government bosses in Oyo town as they see rehabilitation and maintenance of roads are no longer their responsibility. Who knew why they are living happy and large when the lives of their citizens are being Put in Risk on Daily Basis.

Without Caring Whose Ox is Gored,it's high time that the OYSROMA Chairman jeered up his activeness and do well to To focus more on the development of his own people and his Town when he is Chance. Acceptance comes with Responsibility they said. Joining thousands to commit the Fallacy of Argumentum ad Populum will never survey in this Write-up. The Governor has appointed you to serve the whole Oyo State and to that end your home Town shouldn't be at the loosing end.

We are also and that's why we are being addressed with the Title "Ajisebi Oyo Laari. As far as the Issue of the Road Network in Oyo is concerned compared to other Zones this old adage appears more like a Ruse.

Moving Beyond that,it's high time the Local Government Chairmen understand the Very sensitive position each and everyone of them are being Placed. It's high time the Local Government Caretaker Chairmen understand the risk posed by Bad roads Network and Collapsed Bridges around Us.

For Months Now,The Bridges that link Pakoyi has been in a Deteriorating Condition. The only thing one could see is a "SAKAMANJE" BillBoard Inscribing it that People shouldn't move in that Area Again. As far as the condition of the Bridge is concerned,it is within the Jurisdiction of Oyo West Local Government to do something to it. The Chairman of the Local in Person of Honourable Akeem Olukubiti should deem it fit in addressing the issue of the said Bridge before it begin to Claim lives. You don't start running politics of Populism after the Bridge claim innocent lives. You are the No1 citizen of the said Local Government and you should act as such.

Furthermore,as far as the Issue of Dilapidated Road Network and Bridges appears to be in a Serious Peculiar-mess,the Local Government Chairmen in each LGA should understand that it's time to reason in the motto of Ogun State "ISE YA". Publicity stunts and fighting trying to run Helter Skelter in order to win the Upcoming LGA Election isn't the Way out. Arisé ni Aríka,Arìka ní Babà Iregun. You should all take Responsibility in each of your LGA as a Former American President,George Washington asserted that "Man make event, events make History and History in turn makes Man".

In Conclusion,The Aforementioned Local Government Caretaker Chairman can do well to complement the efforts of the State Government,OYSTROMAas well as the Ministry of works and Transport. individuals like Honourable Akeem Olukitibi(Oyo West Local Government Caretaker Chairman), Honourable Fatai Okunlola Obabi (Oyo Southwest Local Council Development Area), Honourable Arowosaye Saheed (The Caretaker Chairman,Oyo East Local Government), Honourable Yunusa (Oyo SouthEast Local Council Development Area), Honourable Akinkimumi and Honourable Olunloyo of ATIBA Local Government and Sooro Local Council Development Area and Honourable Okeleye Joseph and Honourable Akindele Sunday of Afijio West LCDA should stand up to this Clarion Call. Roads are part of the very essential Social amenities a Society must have to aid their Development and Progress. If these are inevitable,Those in mantle of power should take Responsibility and be Accountable.
