(Continuation :Revelation 12)
THE PRESENT / FUTURISTIC PART :

Previously we considered the historical part of Revelation 12, and we saw that the "wonder" spoken of in the passage speaks of the nation of Israel , the coming of Christ, the horrible persecution of the nation of Israel etc.
Like we said in the last message, this Passage of Scripture has both historical and present, and prophetic meaning, all at the same time.

Lets just take a glance through the present/prophetic part.
You will notice verse13 said "the dragon persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child" ; talking about the persecution the nation of Israel faced after the coming of Christ through her. But verse17 is a deeper wonder and concerns us who now believe in Christ Jesus.

" THE DRAGON WENT TO MAKE WAR WITH THE REMNANT OF HER SEED, WHICH ARE THOSE WHO OBEY GOD, and HOLD ON TO THE TESTIMONY ABOUT JESUS CHRIST." (verse17)
This is where we are today, and things are going deeper and deeper in this direction. The Apostles, the early disciples, and all the true followers of Jesus had their own share in this persecution/suffering, because of their faith in Christ. We too must prepare for ours.......verse 12 said that the dragon has great wrath 'because he knows that his time was short'. Satan has a short time to fight us and then be destroyed forever , but we have everlasting time to celebrate our victory.
Lastly, Unlike many people think, notice that the devil is not in hell yet nor is he in the heavens either: he is on earth! Yes, our adversary is on earth. He can move from nation to nation, family to family, persons to persons. Yes?! ( see 12:9,12 also Job1:7). This is the reason for the rapid increasing confusions , and disasters. This is why the loud voices echoed a 'WOE' to "the inhabitants of the earth" -- i.e to those living on earth. BUT unto those living in the heavens ,it says REJOICE!
hallelujah! It means that the safest place to live in this end time is not on the earthly, carnal realms, but in the heavenly realms : seated with Christ in the place of authority. Without spiritual authority in any life, family or nation, it will only be a WOE!

What we read in this chapter 12 can be described best as, "things which WERE, which ARE and which IS TO COME"; Because the events has happened , and are also presently playing out, and also has a prophetic (futuristic) part. This is also true of several scriptures.
The Spiritual results of these battles is what played out.
THE HISTORICAL PART:
The woman speaks of the nation of Israel ( Rev12:1; Gen37:9). The 12 stars are the 12 tribes.
She was pregnant with a child (which was Jesus Christ the Messiah who was to come ,and who was going to rule all nations with iron rode) (Rev12:2, 5)
She was in "birth" pains of slavery under the Roman government as of that time.
The dragon (the devil -- Rev12:9) was filled with fury against them because he understood prophecy (Gen3:15). This devil stood in hatred and furry against Israel with 7 heads, 10 horns and crowns --- these refers to worldly powers of governments , royal rulerships and institutions Satan uses to fight against God's purposes, even up to date. History confirms this. Satan's intentions was to "devour the woman's child as soon as it was born". Remember that King Herod of Judea tried and with the death on the cross the Jewish leaders tried. But God turned the tables on the devil, and through God's help by the same cross, ultimate victory was won over the devil and all his powers (12:5-12)
What then was the dragons next action seeing that he was defeated and that the Child died and rose from the dead to set captives free? The dragon "PERSECUTED THE WOMAN (ISRAEL) WHICH BROUGHT FORTH THE MAN CHILD"( Rev12:13). Yes, that nation physically and literally suffered a lot, both horrible massacre through some world powers ,and famine and tough humbling processes, all in the bid to wipe them away. This was the flood from the dragon (12:15)...
Beyond this, the last verse ,12:17 says :
"and the dragon was wroth and went to make war with the remnants of the woman's seed, WHICH KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, AND HAVE THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS"
This is the present part of his battles --- it is against the church, "those who have the testimony of Jesus ".
