A customer almost lost his car because of a dashboard button many drivers ignore every day

A customer rushed into the workshop this afternoon complaining that his car suddenly smelled like burning plastic. He thought it was an electrical fault.
After inspection, we found the culprit, the cigarette lighter had been left pushed in for a long time. It overheated, melted the surrounding plastic and nearly started a dashboard fire.

The shocking part? He doesn't even smoke. He had pushed it in while cleaning the interior and forgot about it.
