Celebrating Exclusive Architecture by BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group

Just as BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group have creatively demonstrated with the Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art, through cultural identity and expression, modern architecture influence art and culture by communicating the cultural history of cities and people through inventive design thinking that define the aesthetic structures and unforgettable arts in adorable vernacular connections that fosters community through sustainable functional public spaces. In this category, architecture integrates or modifies exclusive sculpture into facades, acting as a canvas for murals to create traditional motifs that reflect the contemporary heretical values of people according to regions with global influence.

BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group in collaboration with ARTS Group, Front Inc. inventively expressed the saying that architecture is a total work of art in the design of the Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art which will be officially opened to the public this year in China. The 60,000sqm museum project which comprises twelve pavilions under a continuous roof inspired by the tiled eaves of the identical traditional Chinese architecture is located on the Lake waterfront in Suzhou. According to Bjarke Ingels, the founder of BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group, the firm conceived the Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art as a garden of pavilions and courtyards, where individual pavilions are woven together by glazed galleries and porticoes, creating a Chinese knot of interconnected sculpture courtyards and exhibition spaces.
