Only 7 out of 109 Nigerian Senate members & 22 of the 360 House of Representatives, Federal Republic of Nigeria members are women. Only 5 out of 25 state house of representatives members are women in Cross River state which boasts of the highest female representation across the 36 states in Nigeria.
Meaning less than 7% of our higher and lower legislative offices are held by women and less than 21% of our state assembly members are women. We join hands with Nigerians to ask the Nigerian Government to re-strategize on achieving a gender-inclusive governance system.
