Lagos Inland Revenue Service to enforced the implementation of Capital Gain Tax Act(CGTA) section 6.1a.
The section required that all capital sum received by way of loss of office is subject to CGT of 10%. The said act did not dealt with low income earners. The rate is applied across all capital sum received. The income tax of employed persons were dealt with in Personal Income Tax Act (PITA). However, the said PITA excempt capital sum by way of loss of office.

Tax annual filing is due from 1-31 January 2019. It is expected that CGT filing is carried out simultaneously.
