Our portable shoes are designed for the modern woman, who typically wears high heels but hates the painful and damaging consequences of wearing them for long periods of time. Many of the foldable ballerina flats on the market come in limited colors and designs. Thando’s shoes come in multiple colors and styles including African fabrics to match the modern woman’s diverse wardrobe. Quality ballet flats can be very expensive making it hard to own more than one pair. Thando’s shoes are moderately priced so that women can easily own more than one pair and not break the bank. Our inaugural BTS (Behind The Scenes) Collection was inspired by the designers of Thando’s 5 piece line of foldable ballerina flats. Each creation is an artistic representation of the designer. The Fierce Walk (designed by Leila Lopes - Miss Universe 2011 from Angola) takes you into the life of a beauty queen, while The Class Act (designed by Zikhona Sodlaka - South African actress and host of BET’s Top Actor SA) takes you onto the set of a feature film. The Kach Me if You Can (designed by Kanayo Ebi - Nigerian celebrity stylist) is the boldness within a celebrity fashion stylist, while The Fritzwa (Sierra Leonean/Ghanaian musician) sings a different tune with its unique pink sole. The First Kiss is a reflection of our Co-founders love for each other and love for the sole. Thando’s placed 3rd in the She Leads Africa Entrepreneurs showcase. In September 2014, Thando’s Co-founder and CEO, Taffi (Woolward) Ayodele was listed in Forbe’s as one of the 10 Emerging Women Entrepreneur’s to Watch in Africa. Most recently Thando’s was one of 25 startups selected to present at Diaspora Demo Day at the World Bank in Washington, DC and tied for 1st place in the Beta Group (start-ups looking to raise between $250,000 - $500,000 USD).
