Lagos Was Under Benin Kingdom, The Name Eko Is Edo, Eko N’Unuame, Lagos Was Name Given By Black Portuguese Sailor

Eko N’Unuamę was later named Lagos De Curamo by Sequeira, a Moorish (black) Portuguese sailor who came to Eko in 1472 with his ship lodders with Moorish (black) refugees.

Eko was owned by the King of Benin empire, who gave Eko as refuge to the black or Moorish Portuguese to settle under his protection. Some of those families still in Lagos bears Portuguese names till date.
