Customs FOU ‘C’ Intercepts N1.056bn Worth of Illicit Drugs in Edo - Journalng 11/04/2026

Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone C in Owerri have intercepted a massive consignment of illicit pharmaceuticals valued at over N1.056 billion along the Okada/Ofosu Expressway in Benin City.

In a press release signed by the Controller, Comptroller Bishir Balogun, on April 11 2026, the seizure comprised 1,025,000 tablets of Tramadol and 10,000 bottles of Barcadin Codeine syrup (100ml each).

Nigeria Surpasses Global Public Speaking Record, Targets 480-Hour Milestone - Journalng 11/04/2026

Nigeria has exceeded the existing global record for the longest continuous public speaking marathon, crossing the 200-hour mark in an officially sanctioned attempt monitored under the guidelines of Guinness World Records.



The ongoing initiative, titled “20 Days of Eloquence — Nigeria Speaks to the World,” has now moved beyond the previous record of 127 hours, 31 minutes, and 43 seconds, set in 2018 by Toastmasters District 112 in Auckland. Organisers say the relay is continuing toward an ambitious 480-hour target.

Nwakohu, Former CRFFN Registrar Dies at 70

Barr Sam Nwakohu, a former Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has died at age 70.

Sources close to his family told JournalNG that the lawyer died on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at a Lagos hospital after battling with an ailment.

Nwakohu who was CRFFN's CEO between early 2019 and February 2023 re-organised the council and set it on the path professionalism , accountability and self sustainability.

Armed with his impeccable law background,as CRFFN CEO he was severally recognised for relentlessly pursuing economic empowerment and growth through sustainable freight forwarding in the country's logistics ecosystem

He initiated freight forwarding educational programmes and achieved the affiliation of CRFFN with universities and other institutes of higher learning

The council's Abuja office and a training arm - the Nigeria Institute of Freight Forwarding (NIFF) with hostel accommodation for freight forwarding scholars sited in the Federal Capital Territory (FTC) were initiated and completed on his watch

The CRFFN, on his watch, achieved construction and full operation of the council's outstations and offices including the collection of Practitioners Operating Fee (PoF) for improved internally generated revenue (IGR) of the council.

An electronic obituary flyer released by his family has indicated specific days for condolence visits at his residence ,20 Ladipo Omotesho Cole Street,Lekki Phase 1,Opposite Lagoon Secondary School.

Announced dates by his family for condolences include Saturday April 11,Sunday April 12, Saturday April 18 and Sunday April 19 ,2026

Some employees of the school and retirees who spoke to JournalNG on condition of anonymity described the deceased as a thoroughbred leader who left indelible marks on the council .

NCAA Resolves Dispute Between Air Peace, NAHCO - Journalng 10/04/2026

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has successfully resolved a dispute between Nigerian airline operator, Air Peace, and the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO).

The Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo, convened a meeting with representatives of both Air Peace and NAHCO at the Aviation House in Lagos on Thursday, 9th April, 2026.

The meeting addressed the issue of damage to Air Peace aircraft parts allegedly caused by NAHCO personnel, and secured the commitment of both parties to a mutually beneficial working relationship, and continued collaboration in the interest of aviation safety.

The Federal Government has approved the deployment of a contactless biometric passenger verification system, known as VPASS, across Nigeria’s domestic airports as part of efforts to strengthen aviation security, enhance data integrity, and improve revenue generation.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, disclosed this during the signing of the concession agreement on 9th April, 2026 at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Abuja.
