I watched Rantande Idahosa (Daughter of late Bishop Benson Idahosa) talked about religion and I was blown away. She didn't say anything strange. She was honest to express a deep truth despite being the daughter of two popular pastors.

The lady said religion and culture are intertwined. She gave examples of Indians and Hinduism, Arabs and Islam.

She argued that Christianity doesn't align with Africans because it has nothing to do with our culture. Our cultural identity had to be stripped before Christianity was accommodated. She stressed that how can we really worship a God that doesn't look, talk, or act like us.

Before Europeans accepted Judaism, they had to create a version which aligns with their culture. That was how Christianity was born. The Persians created a version of Islam that aligns with their culture.

I rejected Christianity because it doesn't align with my culture. I am an unapologetically African. I believe in the efficacy of ancestors. Meanwhile, Christianity calls it idolatry.

African spirituality does it for me. I pour libation to my ancestors. I am too conscious to worship a foreign god.
