The Fresh Place

One thing I’ve come to realise is that sharing the journey of building our Lekki store matters just as much as celebrating the finished space.

Looking back, I didn’t document the process for our previous locations nearly enough. In doing that, I also failed to give enough credit to the work, the decisions, and the countless moving parts that brought them to life.

This day was all about making big decisions.

After what felt like endless conversations about what we truly needed (and what we definitely didn’t), we finally set out to purchase the roofing materials. Every choice had to make sense, not just for today, but for the future of the store.

From there, we headed to buy the freezers; one of the very first pieces of equipment every fresh food store simply can’t do without.

As for the bill…

Let’s just say my bank account and I agreed to never discuss it publicly. 😂

Building isn’t just about putting up walls. It’s a thousand decisions, a hundred sacrifices, and choosing to keep moving even when the numbers make you blink twice.

The journey continues.

Every entrepreneur has that one decision they still replay in their mind.

The one they wonder if they should have made sooner, wish they had never made, the opportunity they let pass or risk they took too early or almost didn’t take at all.

Sometimes you look back and question yourself. Sometimes you even regret it. But with time, you realize that every decision, whether it worked out or not, left you with something you wouldn’t have learned any other way.

This particular story had me feeling this way for a long time there were moments when I questioned myself, and my competence and my strengths in decision making.

But in the long run I’ve learned that entrepreneurship isn’t about making perfect decisions. It’s about having the courage to keep making them, learning from them, and refusing to let one difficult chapter convince you that your story is over.

The decisions you regret today may just become the lessons you’ll be grateful for tomorrow.
