NEW LYRICS VIDEO – Born To Win by Amobi
"Even if I fall a million times, I won't stay down."
This is for everyone who’s been counted out, who’s had to fight in silence, who’s still standing.
No stress. No bad energy. Just purpose, pain, and persistence.
I was BORN TO WIN.

When Your Voice Takes a Break During a Studio Session

You know that late night ginger, the one that makes you feel unstoppable with just you, the mic, and that beat knocking like it wants to scatter your speakers? That was me. Headphones on, spirit high, ready to drop fire. The plan? Just 10 minutes. Sharp sharp, record the verse and call it a night. How hard could it be?

First take my voice cracked. Not the baby crack o! I’m talking keke napep climbing Third Mainland Bridge with overload. I paused, cleared my throat, tried again. Second take? Even worse. My voice was playing hide and seek with the beat, sounding like a Nokia 3310 ringtone. I convinced myself it was warm-up. “One more take,” I said. “Just one more.”

That "one more" turned into ten. Midnight became 2 AM, then 3 AM. My voice was cracking so much, even the mic looked like it wanted to tap me and say, “My guy, rest abeg.” But I kept going—sweating, voice shaking like I was leading praise and worship on crossover night. By 4 AM, I left that studio defeated. I started with fire but left with breeze. My throat? Dry like I chewed cabin biscuits without water.

Morning came, and my two year old was up, fully charged, scattering pillows and pulling down curtains like he drank three bottles of Lucozade Boost. I tried to call him. “Stop that!” My voice came out like a whisper through MTN bad network. My guy didn’t flinch. I tried again. He paused, squinted at me, smiled, and continued like I just whispered, “Well done, my boy.”

Imagine losing studio time and house control in one night. My own son promoted himself to Area Commander of the living room. I just sat back, whispering threats to myself, while he carried out Operation Scatter Everywhere with pride.

Moral of the story: If your voice starts cracking, abeg rest! Because if you don’t, not only will your music suffer, but even your own child won’t take you seriously.
