Today is Sunday. The day we go to church to drop our tithes and offering for the pastors in anticipation for the incoming blessing of the week.

Truth be told, I've read some very intelligent and daft analysis of the subject and I was able to deduce the following : * Many Christians pay tithes out of the fear of devourers/cankerworms
*Many pay it out of guilt.
*Many pay it as a "bribe" to God to keep blessing them regardless of living a life of disobedience. To these set of people "let me just pay tithe and enjoy the open window of God's blessings, sin or no sin" is their watchword.
*Many people don't even fully understand tithing and what it entails, they just pay because pastors say they should.
It will interest you to know that many of the people who have issues with tithing are not rebels as sanctimonious Christians have labelled them. In fact, majority of them do not oppose tithing, they only oppose paying tithe to service flamboyant lifestyles of pastors.
Unfortunately, this is Nigeria: a country where people rever pastors more than God. A country where you cannot call out a pastor for doing wrong (you must be bedevilled to even do so). A country where the church congregation is not allowed to question or logically critique the actions of a pastor. (story for another day).
