With the pandemic-induced disruption in global supply chains, the demand for ginger has spiked. A 400% price increase over the past year has boosted Nigeria's production.

The country's superior ginger quality and the existing high export market demand, have instigated significant ginger production on our farms. We are currently cultivating 3 hectares of the produce every two months, and we are primed to harvest almost 9 hectares of ginger by the end ofthe year.

Similar to the kernels, cashew nut shells have a range of benefits, and serve as a valuable raw material for various applications.

The shell oil can be used for friction linings, paints, varnishes, and more. Studies have also shown that the nutshell liquid is an important and powerful bio-oil, whose calorific value is comparable to petroleum oils.

As a biofuel, cashew shells help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We are currently testing the conversion of our cashew nut shells at our pilot cashew processing facility into cashew nut shell liquid. To reduce waste, we have also used the shells for the beautification of some of our locations.

Today is Africa Industrialization Day, and the theme for this year is: “industrializing Africa: renewed commitment towards an inclusive and sustainable industrialization and economic diversification.''

According to African Development Bank, Africa is behind the global value chain with only a 1.9 percent share of global manufacturing, that's why we believe that Africa’s greatest opportunity to play on the global scene lies in agriculture.

With the development of world-class manufacturing, processing, packaging, and storage infrastructures in various markets, we can bridge the gap between supply and demand, support farmers with modernized techniques, and continuously bring sustainable products to market.

Why do we need to empower smallholder farmers? Smallholder farmers are major players in transforming global food systems and achieving food security.

Currently, ‘’a third of the world's food is produced by smallholder farmers,’’ (FAO), and to improve food production and provide economic opportunities for these farmers, access to markets, finance, infrastructure, and improved growing techniques are required.

With our outgrower scheme, we are able to train and work with thousands of farmers to boost productivity and sustainable economic growth. This scheme includes utilising innovative technology to drive greater access to input, best practices, credit financing, and markets.

Global banana trade has expanded significantly with an estimated export volume of 21 million tonnes in 2019. Nigeria is one of Africa’s largest banana producing countries, providing about 2.73 million tonnes per year.

To diversify the products in our value chain and expand our market offerings, we are currently cultivating the Cavendish group banana variety named “Williams’’ with an expected production capacity of 45 tons per hectare for the next few months. In the future, production is expected to reach 50 tons per hectare.

With the banana export markets thriving at a profound rate, we are optimising our output to meet local market and export opportunities.
